Kunal Patel is the instructor of the fifth course in the Google UX Design Certificate, Create High-Fidelity Designs and Prototypes in Figma, which is arguably the longest course in the entire certificate.
At the time of recording the course, Kunal was a Staff Interaction Designer at Google, a position he still holds. Speaking about his background, he shared:
“My parents really wanted me to go down a doctor, engineer, or lawyer path, but I was always into art. So I decided to study architecture. And in going through that program, I kind of picked up doing web design on the side and found that that was really something I was more interested in than the architecture work I was doing during the day. Design has kind of helped me find my path in life.”
Kunal earned his bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University and a master’s degree in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design.
He is passionate about giving back to the design community, stating that he “wants to be able to pay forward the goodwill that was shown to me, and help ensure that future generations of people interested in UX don’t have to navigate the same winding path to enter the field and experience all the great things that come with it.” (1)
